Frequently Asked Questions

Our residency program was accredited in 2010 and received re-accreditation in 2024.

Yes, we host APPE managed care students from multiple colleges of pharmacy.

Our organization has historically retained over 70% of our program graduates. Outside of the parent company, initial positions have been with other Health Plans, PBMs and State Health Departments.

Our program offers four PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Resident positions.

  • Fully remote program: 3 positions
  • New York based hybrid program: 1 position

All of our applications are reviewed by a group composed of the residency director, the current residents and preceptors. They review each applicant’s letter of intent, CV, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, grades, and managed care experience. The group identifies candidates to invite for an onsite interview. During the onsite interview, the candidate will have the opportunity to meet program preceptors, complete a clinical case review and present a clinical presentation of their choice.

Residents are evaluated at the midpoint and final of their block rotations, as well as quarterly for all longitudinal experiences utilizing standardized ASHP evaluation criteria.

The residents will work with residency preceptors to identify potential projects. These projects will be further vetted by the program coordinator, RPD and project preceptors to determine project value and feasibility.

Each resident will be required to staff one week of the “Night Pharmacist Rotation” on a revolving schedule, for a total of five cumulative weeks over the course of the residency program.  The schedule for each week is as follows:  Monday – Friday 12:00pm to 9:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:00am to 4:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:00am – 4:30pm EST (For residents in the Pacific time zone the hours are 6:00am – 2:30pm).

Answer: Due to high demand and fairness to all applicants, we don’t offer opportunities for prospective candidates to shadow. However, we participate in the AMCP Nexus showcase and we also host two Fall virtual showcase events.

Applicants are free to apply to both programs but we would prefer that you select the program that best fits your needs

Both programs will have the same rotations, projects, goals and objectives.  However, the New York based hybrid resident will be expected to be on location in New York (Long Island City) office at least 2 days per week.
