Pharmacy Technician II (Specialty Fulfillment - Onsite Mail-order) - Hawthorn, NY

Position Purpose:
Work with the Pharmacists to accurately prepare prescription orders in a timely manner

Key Details: This onsite position is based at Centene's Acaria Health Pharmacy, located at 5 Skyline Drive, Suite 240, Hawthorne, NY 10532. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern Time (ET). This role plays an integral part in the operations of a specialty pharmacy, supporting the preparation, labeling, and fulfillment of specialty medications under pharmacist supervision while adhering to strict protocols for cold-chain management, hazardous drug handling, and applicable compounding requirements. Responsibilities include managing specialty medication inventory, monitoring back-orders and limited-distribution products, maintaining accurate and audit-ready documentation, and ensuring compliance with state board of pharmacy regulations, URAC, ACHC, HIPAA, and PBM requirements. The ideal candidate brings experience working with biologics, injectables, and specialty medications, along with strong attention to detail, inventory management expertise, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. Success in this role also requires strong communication skills, a patient-centered approach, proficiency with specialty pharmacy systems and digital platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, provider offices, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate medication fulfillment. Candidates with active New York Pharmacy Technician registration and PTCB certification are highly preferred. Candidates without current PTCB certification must be willing to obtain it after hire.

  • Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis

  • Work under direct supervision of a pharmacist

  • Locate correct medication and strength to complete picking of order.

  • Prepare, count, label, and package pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist approval

  • Purchase, receive and coordinate inventory

  • Maintain and update inventory recap report

  • Retrieve discontinued or expired medications from stock; discard or return to stock as appropriate; complete corresponding documentation

  • Maintain prescription logs

  • Accurately calibrate equipment and document calibration according to policy

  • Assist with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs and documents maintenance

  • Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of retail, hospital or mail order pharmacy experience.

License/Certification: AcariaHealth:

State pharmacy technician license relative to where the assigned pharmacy is located (exception being NY where a pharmacy technician license is not required). License required at the time of hire. New York Pharmacy Technician Licence and PTCB, highly preferred.

Pay Range: $19.43 - $32.98 per hour
