More Than a Job: How Centene’s Values Empower Military Spouses

When Juliet S. joined Centene as a member of the Talent and Capability team, it wasn’t just the role that caught her attention — it was the Centene's values.

“When I discovered the role at Centene, it immediately felt like the right fit,” Juliet said. “The responsibilities aligned perfectly with my goals—but what truly stood out was Centene’s authentic commitment to supporting military families, both externally and within the organization.”

Military spouses like Juliet bring unique strengths to the workplace: adaptability, resilience, cross-cultural competence, and the ability to thrive under pressure. Their lived experience often means they are problem solvers, quick learners, and effective collaborators — skills that align with Centene’s purpose-driven mission.

But professional paths for military spouses can often be disrupted by frequent relocations and changes in family dynamics. That’s why Centene’s commitment to flexibility and inclusion matters deeply to those balancing career growth with the demands of military life.

“As a military spouse, that kind of support means the world,” Juliet said. “It’s the first thing I share when people ask about my job.”

Centene supports Military-connected employees through CENVET, an employee inclusion group dedicated to Veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. CENVET builds community and advocacy, provides mentorship and networking, and works across the enterprise to create opportunities that recognize the value of military service—both on the front lines and at home.

“I’m not just proud to work here — I feel genuinely valued,” Juliet said, “especially knowing Centene understands the realities of military life, including the need for flexibility and support when relocation becomes part of my family’s journey.”

Juliet’s story is one of many at Centene, where support for those who serve — and those who support them — is part of who we are.
