What I Love about Being a Nurse at Centene
Every year, National Nurses Week begins on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. While nursing has come a long way since Florence founded modern nursing, the dedication of those in the profession has stayed the same. This week is the perfect time to highlight and recognize the important work nurses have in our communities. To celebrate, we asked some members of the Centene team what they love most about being a nurse at Centene.
Kirk L.
"I love being a nurse because it allows me the honor to have an impact on people’s lives. Helping them transition from their current state of health to a state of health that supports a higher quality of life. Centene empowers me to do just that! Through ongoing training and extensive support, Centene enables me to transform the health of the community, one person at a time. The work culture is like nothing I have experienced in over 35 years of working. Centene truly believes in work-life balance and puts it into action through policy and quality management…. “Happy employees do quality work.”
Krizia A.
“I love being a nurse for Centene because I was able to work with foster care members. By using technology that allowed me to work in a hybrid workplace model, I can provide better service and care to our members.”
Tyrone B.
“I have been with Superior Health for almost 8 years and the best part about my job is seeing the joy in the faces of our members. Every visit I have with our members is a teaching moment mostly for myself as I get to collaborate with them on getting things they need. Each member has their own story and learning about them on such a personal level has helped with building a rapport that lasts way past the initial visit. Being a nurse is such an amazing thing I get to do that it doesn’t become just a job but a real passion for helping others.”
Yolanda M.
“What I love about being a nurse is that I get the opportunity to help others during some of their most difficult times. As a nurse, I get to share knowledge and empower them as they learn to navigate their health as well as the healthcare system. Being a nurse is one of the most challenging yet rewarding careers. There are so many patients and members that we leave a lasting impression on and mark on their hearts with our care and compassion. I get to utilize my skills in a different way. I love that I get to provide support to our telephonic case managers and our program while still being able to help impact the lives of others. “
Richelle S.
“It has been my dream since I was a child to become a nurse. I'm passionate about taking good care of others and I always love helping them get through life's challenges. Being a nurse at Centene allows me to continue touching lives and advocate for my patients and their families. I'm so glad that I finally joined the team and excited to grow personally and professionally as a Utilization Review Nurse!"
