Giving Back to the Earth and our Communities

Each year, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day as a reminder of the importance of protecting our natural resources and making our world a happier and healthier place to live.

Centene's commitment to delivering high-quality care to those we serve includes a focus on protecting the environment, and the health and social well-being of our communities.

Centene employees are able to connect with volunteer opportunities and engage their communities in the ways they are most passionate! For some, it’s volunteering to clean up a neighborhood or supporting the local humane society. Centene even offers eight hours of Community Impact time annually to support a nonprofit during normal business hours.

Community Involvement

Recently, Greg Sheehan (one of our talent advisors) had an opportunity to put his purpose to work alongside his fellow Centene employees by volunteering to help an elderly couple clean up their backyard which had become overrun with weeds and needed major maintenance.

“I think it’s great that at Centene we can easily search for volunteer opportunities that align with our values or skills so we can really make the biggest impact,” Greg notes.

Greg and the crew worked to bring the couple's backyard to life through yard work including pulling weeds, planting trees, and spreading mulch.

"It was great to get to know and help a couple local to our community. I also met people across departments in Centene that I might not have gotten to know otherwise," Greg added.
